Xbox altera conversão de Live Gold para Game Pass; veja como ficou

Microsoft recently raised Xbox Game Pass prices in Brazil, and this service change wasn't the only one they made. As of today (7), the direct conversion of a year of Live Gold subscription to 12 months of Game Pass Ultimate is no longer possible.

This scheme was very popular with users, allowing them to secure up to three years of Xbox Game Pass subscription. However, now the conversion of months works differently, it is no longer a one-to-one (1:1) ratio.

The new rules were released on the official Xbox website, explaining how the conversion currently works:

  • Live Gold and PC Game Pass for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate - (3:2)
  • Console Game Pass to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate - (4:3)
  • EA Play for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate - (3:1)

The company also advises that conversions from prepaid months from Live Gold and other services are final. Before making the change, Microsoft's system displays a pop-up alerting how many months the user will receive when doing the procedure.

With this change, a year of Xbox Live Gold now entitles you to eight months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, up from the previous 12 months. The ratio is also reduced for minor and major conversions, as shown in the examples below:

  • 3-month Live Gold is now worth two months of Game Pass Ultimate
  • 9-month Live Gold is now worth six months of Game Pass Ultimate
  • 12-month Live Gold is now worth eight months of Game Pass Ultimate
  • 18-month Live Gold is now worth one year of Game Pass Ultimate
  • 24-month Live Gold is now worth 16 months of Game Pass Ultimate
  • 36-month Live Gold is now worth two years of Game Pass Ultimate

It is important to note that the maximum subscription limit for the service remains 36 months. Previously, it was possible to secure three years of Game Pass Ultimate through direct conversion of Live Gold gift cards.

This conversion change from Live Gold to Game Pass Ultimate is now in effect. However, with this new rule, it becomes more difficult and more expensive to reach the full 36 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, as four months per year are deducted from the subscription. Therefore, by activating and converting 36 months of Live Gold, the user will receive two years of Game Pass Ultimate.
